Jasun Mahaffey, DMD

Ideal orthodontic results are achieved with proper diagnosis, controlled orthodontic mechanics, and adequate patient and parent cooperation. With my training at Boston University Department of Orthodontics, I feel very confident that I can provide my patients with excellent clinical care to address their malocclusions at the source of their cause, as opposed to just making their teeth look “pretty”. This I feel, is my job. My next job is getting my patients and parents to understand their treatment and what role they play in achieving a successful outcome. Therefore, in our practice we emphasize communication with our parents and patients. We believe informed patients and parents are more likely to cooperate with their treatment when we speak with them, and not past them. Therefore, from the very beginning of treatment we aim to build trust through communication with our patients and parents. We want and expect them to stay engaged throughout their treatment, understanding that they play as vital a role in the successful outcome of their treatment as we do. In doing so, we have found that our patients become more like family as naturally through communication we all begin to care about each other as opposed to just treating a malocclusion. This I believe sets us apart.
